How Many Calories are in Cauliflower?

Potatoes might not help you lose weight, but cauliflowers can because of their low calorie-content.  They might not be the magic wand that can dissolve your fats in an instant, but it can certainly help you get close to your ideal weight.

So how can cauliflower achieve this?

First, you have to understand how a person gains weight.  When a person takes in more calories than he can use, you gain weight.  But if you take less calories when your body actually needs more, you lose weight – and that is called negative calorie effect.

Exercise is more effective when you substitute low calorie vegetables in your diet in place of higher calorie foods such as potatoes.

Cauliflower is also one of the vegetables that has such low calorie count that it will take more energy to extract their calories, break them down and digest them than the actual calorie you can actually get from them.

In effect, it means you will burn more energy when you eat cauliflowers so it’s ideal to include it in your diet if you are trying to lose weight.

So just how many calories are there in cauliflowers? An ounce of cauliflower including the stalks has about six to seven calories only.

Other low-calorie vegetables include asparagus, beets, cucumber, broccoli and celery.  Low-calorie fruits include papaya, apples, grapefruits, strawberries and pineapples.
