Mashed Cauliflower: A Slimming Alternative to Mashed Potato

Losing weight and seeing mashed potatoes on the dinner table is something akin to torture.  How hard to let go of fats if it means letting go of the tasty and creamy texture of mashed potatoes!

But there are possible substitutes for this all-time favorite food one of which is cauliflower.  Yes, you can whip up faux mashed potatoes with this vegetable.  Same look, fluffy texture and great taste…without the high carbohydrate content.

While mashed potatoes are rich in starch but low when it comes to digestive value, mashed cauliflowers can help you lose weight.  It has a very low calorie-content compared to mashed potatoes.  It will certainly go well with a low-carb diet or if you are a diabetic.

And because it’s not a starchy vegetable, you can eat as much mashed cauliflowers as you want to without being afraid of putting on weight.

But aside from being a slimmer’s agent, cauliflowers have other health benefits, too.  This pretty vegetable is said to fight cancer and is an excellent source of vitamin C, folate and other vitamins and minerals.

Mashed cauliflower is easy to do.  You can make it the same way you make mashed potatoes – or you can just steam a cauliflower head or bake it before mashing.

It may not have the exact same starchy feel and taste in your mouth, but you can think of other ways to infuse more flavor to it such as adding bacon bits, cream cheese or garlic.
